Hickory County Release Meanings
A Hickory County jail stay ends when the booking is closed, but the reason matters. Bond, recognizance, dismissal, time served, or another court order may return a person to the community. A commitment to the Missouri Department of Corrections, an outside-county warrant, a federal writ, or an immigration detainer can instead move the person to another custodian. In each case, the person physically leaves the local setting. Only some are community releases.
The Hickory County Sheriff's Office does not publish an official current roster, recent-release archive, or searchable booking system. An absent name is therefore weak evidence. It may reflect a release, transfer, boarding arrangement, spelling difference, data delay, or system gap. The affirmative proof is the sheriff's closed booking or movement record, especially its release time, disposition, and receiving-agency fields. A matching court or recipient record explains what happened next.
Hickory County Release Types
Release codes summarize an event, not the full case. A bond entry shows that release authority was accepted, but it does not dismiss the charge. “Time served” ends the calculated term at that facility, yet another hold may remain. Parole and conditional release end state-prison confinement while Missouri supervision continues. Final discharge is a later event that ends the relevant MODOC sentence or supervision relationship.

Hickory County Release Record Fields
The strongest county record ties one person to one booking episode. Hickory County exposes no web form with fixed field labels, so a request should seek existing fields without claiming the sheriff uses a particular screen or code. Full name and aliases help avoid a same-name error. The booking number joins the arrest, release, bond entry, and photograph. Date and time fields separate intake from the actual exit.

A property receipt or release acknowledgement may also document checkout, though part of it may be redacted or closed. The sheriff remains the source for the actual jail-door timestamp. A court order can explain authority but may precede processing, while a MODOC judgment does not prove that state intake has occurred.

Section 610.026 permits ordinary paper charges up to ten cents per page plus allowed clerical time, while research is billed at actual cost using the lowest-cost qualified staff. The Missouri Attorney General's Sunshine guidance states that a custodian must respond by the end of the third business day with records or a detailed explanation and earliest access time. That deadline governs response, not necessarily final production.
Hickory Release Retention and Closure
Missouri schedule SHF 013 describes sheriff inmate and detainee files, including intake, confinement reason, admission and release dates, property receipts, discipline, and transfers. The state retention schedule sets a minimum of five years after release, with financial material also subject to audit completion. Retention does not mean internet display, nor does it make every part open without review.
Missouri Chapter 610 generally treats arrest reports and detention information as open under § 610.100 while preserving investigative, safety, and other exceptions. Specified final outcomes can close official records under § 610.105. The § 610.140 expungement process carries offense exclusions, waiting periods, and other requirements. When an expungement order restricts ordinary access, absence from a public system is not a new Hickory County release event.
Find Hickory County Released Inmates
Hickory County offers no official rolling release list. A reliable search starts with identity, then follows the custody type. Use the full name, approximate booking date, arresting agency, and a case or booking number when available. One matching name is not enough.
- Search Missouri Case.net by litigant or case number and narrow to Hickory County. Review bond, release orders, dismissal, judgment, sentence, warrants, and later entries.
- Ask the sheriff whether the booking is closed and request the release time, disposition, receiving agency, and physical holding facility.
- If the record names MODOC, search by DOC number after intake. If another county, BOP, USMS, or ICE is named, verify with that recipient.
- For future changes, register through current Missouri MOVANS when the matching agency record is available. Treat an alert as notice, not the final release certificate.

Missouri Released Offender Search
The MODOC Offender Search covers active offenders, including incarcerated people, probationers, and parolees. It expressly excludes discharged offenders. That makes it useful after release from a state institution while supervision continues, but it cannot identify someone whose only custody was the Hickory County jail. Search by DOC number when possible, then compare name, sentence county, offense, status, and location.

Historical Hickory Release Date Fields
MODOC's nightly Sunshine offender database differs from the active public search. The database covers current and former department-supervised people, includes material as early as 1974, and carries completeness cautions. Its layout documents a Completed Flag, a Sentence-I Minimum Release Date, and a Sentence Maximum Release Date. Those database labels should not be promised on every public profile.

A missing active result should lead to that file or a focused MODOC records request. It should never be converted into an unsupported claim that a person was released or discharged.
Hickory Release Orders in Case.net
Hickory County belongs to Missouri's 30th Judicial Circuit. Case.net can outlast a jail stay and show charges, bond, warrants, judgment, sentence, probation events, and later disposition. A docketed order explains the authority for release, but only the jail record confirms when processing ended and whether a new custodian received the person.

When a remote document is unavailable, contact the Hickory County Circuit Clerk at 417-745-6421 and request the judgment, sentence, bond or release order, dismissal, warrant recall, or discharge entry by case number.
When Hickory Release Orders Appear
The 30th Judicial Circuit's local rules place Hickory County Law Day on the second Friday, with civil matters at 9:00 a.m., criminal matters at 10:00 a.m., and juvenile matters at 11:00 a.m. The rules warn that settings can change. These times can help interpret a docket entry or plan a clerk request, but they do not predict when jail staff will complete release processing.
A court order and a jail exit are separate timestamps. Other holds, transport, records processing, or a transfer can intervene. For that reason, pair the Case.net event with the sheriff's actual release time and receiving-agency field.
Where Hickory Detainees Are Released
State audit reports document reciprocal boarding arrangements in which Hickory County housed prisoners for other counties and surrounding counties housed Hickory prisoners. The 2019 state audit reported 176 outside-prisoner days during 2018 and recommended adequate release records. Those historic facts do not identify a current partner county or current terms.
They do change the first records question: “Which facility physically held and released this person?” Hickory may hold the booking authority or movement record while another jail holds the physical admission and exit timestamps. Obtain both when boarding applies. Reconcile the dates instead of treating disappearance from one local setting as freedom.
Hickory Post-Release Supervision Records
Probation is a court-ordered community sentence and may occur without prison. Parole is a Parole Board release from prison before the sentence ends. Conditional release is the supervised portion set by statute for many Missouri sentences. All may appear under the MODOC Division of Probation and Parole, but only parole and conditional release necessarily follow prison confinement.

Hickory Release Reentry Services
Every Missouri state prison has a reentry center that can help before release with identity documents, transportation, medical care, food, clothing, and other immediate needs. The MODOC Office of Reentry Services explains that statewide preparation, while District 20 provides the local supervision connection for Hickory County. Institutional staff prepare the plan before release; District 20 becomes the local supervision route when a person is assigned there.
ID After Hickory County Release
For purpose-neutral replacement identification after release, the Hermitage License Office reopened January 7, 2026 at 23183 Oakwood Circle. It operates Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and can be reached at 417-745-6409. Missouri requires identity or lawful-status proof, a Social Security number, and residential-address documents; the permanent card is mailed after a temporary paper document. Check the Missouri identification requirements before visiting.
Federal and ICE Release Searches
The BOP Inmate Locator applies only to federal custody. It can show a release date and “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody,” but BOP warns that another justice system may still hold the person. Federal pretrial custody under USMS may occur in a contract jail and has no equivalent public historic USMS person search. Use the federal docket and actual holding facility in that situation.
The federal form offers name and register-number routes, but its result must not be substituted for the Hickory County jail record or a Missouri state sentence.
For an immigration transfer, the ICE Online Detainee Locator accepts an A-number and country of birth or exact biographical data. ICE says it may retain released results for about sixty days, subject to delay and exclusions. A county transfer record plus ODLS or ICE confirmation is needed; a missing locator result alone proves neither release nor continued custody.

The Missouri Sex Offender Registry is a separate channel limited to people with a registration duty. Hickory County can be selected, and a status or address may provide a transition clue.
Registry absence is not proof of custody or release, and a registry image is not the Hickory booking photograph. MODOC Victim Services also remains a separate state route for eligible prison, parole, escape, death, and release notifications.

The Facility Map resolves one local facility page: Hickory County Jail. It covers the county detention function operated by the Sheriff's Office, the lack of a public roster, reciprocal boarding, records requests, and the route for confirming a community release or transfer. Hickory County contains no state prison, federal prison, or identified ICE detention contract, so those statewide and national systems do not receive fictional local facility pages.
